  • Reminder:  All local health agencies need to file with the Department a certified copy of every by-law or ordinance that their local board passes.  N.J.S.A. 26:1A-12.  If you have not yet filed them with NJDHSS, please submit them to the Office of Local Public Health to the attention of Leticia Walker.  We will be using them to develop a searchable database of local ordinances for your use.
  • Regarding Interlocal Agreements (ILAs):  All local health agencies that enter into Uniform Shared Public Health Services Agreements, otherwise known as Interlocal Agreements, need to submit them to the Office of Local Public Health once the agreements have been approved. (Attn:  Leticia Walker)

Public Health is the science and art of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Public health professionals analyze how genetics, personal choices, and the environment affect health in order to develop programs that protect the health of your family and community.

Overall, public health is concerned with protecting the health of entire populations. These populations can be as small as a local neighborhood, or as big as an entire country. Public Health is also concerned with limiting health disparities and advocating health care equity, quality, and accessibility. more...

Public Health impacts your life everyday---where you live, work, relax or play.
